Early on Sunday, two men on motorcycles fired four shots outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s house. Security measures were increased afterward
Two unknown individuals on motorcycles discharged four shots outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan in Mumbai’s Bandra area early Sunday morning. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries. The incident took place at approximately 4:51 am outside Galaxy Apartments, after which the assailants fled. Mumbai Police confirmed that Salman Khan was at home during the incident. Anmol Bishnoi, brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the attack on social media. Anmol Bishnoi currently resides in the United States.
Security around Salman Khan’s residence has been increased after the incident. CCTV footage captured the motorcycle-riding individuals rushing towards Salman Khan’s house.
The crime branch, local police, and forensic teams conducted an investigation at the scene of the incident. Forensic experts recovered bullet casings from outside Salman Khan’s residence. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), along with additional officials, briefed the investigation team at the DCP office in Mumbai. The Bandra Police filed a case against an unidentified individual for the shooting. DCP Raj Tilak Roushan of the Mumbai Police mentioned that over 15 teams have been deployed to apprehend the suspects.
The incident occurred amidst ongoing threats from incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and wanted criminal Goldie Brar, who have repeatedly declared intentions to harm Salman Khan. Sources suggest that shooters sent by Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar were dispatched to Mumbai with the aim of assassinating the actor. Allegedly, Salman Khan has been targeted by Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang due to the 1998 blackbuck hunting case, a significant issue for the Bishnoi community, who revere blackbucks as sacred animals.
In 2018, Sampat Nehra, an associate of Lawrence Bishnoi, conducted surveillance on Salman Khan’s residence. However, before he could execute any attack, the Haryana Police apprehended him. During interrogation, Nehra divulged the entire plot to harm Salman Khan.
Considering the persistent threats posed by the gangs of Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, the Mumbai Police have stationed police teams outside Salman Khan’s house, working in shifts round the clock.
In response to these threats, Salman Khan has been equipped with weapons by trained security personnel. Additionally, he has been granted a firearms license, enabling him to carry a personal weapon for his protection.
In March of last year, the Mumbai Police heightened their vigilance when Salman Khan reportedly received a death threat via email, purportedly from Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang.
In November of the same year, Mumbai Police conducted a security assessment for Salman Khan following an indirect threat posted on Facebook by an account allegedly associated with Lawrence Bishnoi. This Facebook account even displayed a photo of the gangster as its profile picture.
Lawrence Bishnoi is presently incarcerated in connection with a drug smuggling case being probed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
In a previous interview with Aaj Tak/India Today, Goldie Brar stated that Salman Khan was their intended target. He mentioned that both his gang and Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang would seize any opportunity to assault the actor.
