Check out the trailer for “Srikanth,” featuring Rajkummar Rao and Jyothika. It’s the inspiring tale of a man’s relentless struggle for education against formidable odds.

Rajkummar Rao is set to portray the remarkable journey of industrialist Srikanth Bolla in the biopic “Srikanth.” The trailer, released online on Tuesday, offers a glimpse into the inspiring narrative of a visually impaired individual who defied obstacles to pursue education and later dedicated himself to empowering others like him with education and job opportunities.

The trailer begins with Rao’s Srikanth expressing his aspiration to become “India’s first visually challenged President” to former President APJ Abdul Kalam. Jyotika portrays his teacher, aiding him in challenging the educational system’s limitations that hinder his pursuit of science studies due to inadequate infrastructure. Eventually, he secures a scholarship at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Additionally, the trailer introduces characters such as Sharad Kelkar, who seems to be an investor in Srikanth’s business ventures, and Alaya F, presumably portraying his romantic interest in the film.

“Tushar Hiranandani, known for directing the 2019 film ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ starring Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar, helms this project. Rajkummar Rao, discussing his portrayal of Srikanth, expressed admiration for the inspiring figure, stating, ‘Srikanth Bolla is an inspiration. It’s indeed a privilege to play such an inspiring persona who has been through a lot of hardships and despite that has risen like a phoenix.’

Originally slated for a September 2023 release, the film’s director, in an earlier statement to indianexpress.com, explained the decision to postpone, citing a desire to avoid clashing with Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan,’ acknowledging, ‘I can’t compete with Shah Rukh Khan.’ Consequently, they aimed for a December 2023 release. However, the film is now set to hit screens on May 10.”
