Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has released the teaser for Rajinikanth’s 171st film, titled ‘Coolie’.
In the teaser for ‘Coolie’, Rajinikanth showcases his signature style as he beats goons with a chain made of gold watches. The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, promises to be an action-packed entertainer.
Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj has unveiled the title of Rajinikanth’s 171st film, ‘Coolie’, along with a power-packed teaser. In the teaser, the South megastar is seen in a rugged avatar, sporting a ‘coolie’ badge on his arm, as he beats and punches goons with a belt made of gold watches. The teaser, presented in monochrome with gold elements retaining their original color, promises an action-packed entertainer.

On Thursday, March 28, Lokesh Kanagaraj took to his official social media handle to share a poster of Rajinikanth from the film. Alongside the poster, he announced the reveal of the title for “#Thalaivar171” on April 22.
In March 2024, at a press conference in Chennai, Lokesh Kanagaraj provided an update on ‘Thalaivar 171’ and his upcoming project, ‘Kaithi 2’. He stated, “Pre-production work is still underway. The filming for ‘Thalaivar 171’ will commence in June, and the entire process is expected to take around 1 to 1.5 years. Following the completion of ‘Thalaivar 171’, we will begin work on ‘Kaithi 2’ with Karthi, approximately one month later. The preparations for both projects are progressing smoothly.”
‘Coolie’ is the first collaboration between director Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth. Produced on a grand scale by Sun Pictures, the film was launched in September 2023.

Reports indicate that Sivakarthikeyan will play a significant role in the movie. However, an official announcement regarding the cast and crew is expected soon. Composer Anirudh Ravichander and stunt director duo Anbariv are also part of the project.
