Jaya Bachchan advises meme-makers to “do a good job,” promoting a positive attitude toward meme creation.

In the latest episode of Navya Naveli Nanda’s podcast, which premiered on her YouTube channel last Thursday, Navya, her mother Shweta Nanda, and her grandmother Jaya Bachchan had a chat about career choices and how work is changing.

Jaya Bachchan asked Navya, “What do you want to do?” Navya replied, “That’s a big question. Nowadays, people do many things. It’s not just about one job. Young people have what’s called a side hustle. It’s like having a 9-5 job, but you also do something else on the side.” Jaya shared that she provides meals for some of the people who make memes of her.

During the show, Navya introduced the term “Jaya-ing” and its meaning. She explained, “There is a term coined after your meme, which is called ‘Jaya-ing.'” Shweta humorously added, “So, when you’re being extra salty, it’s Jaya-ing?” Jaya, taking it lightly, responded, “It’s not in a very flattering way, but it’s okay.” Navya further defined “Jaya-ing” as expressing oneself without being concerned about others’ opinions.

Navya then asked Jaya, “How do you feel about being a pop culture phenomenon?” Jaya, embracing the attention, said, “I don’t mind people poking fun at me or laughing at me. I don’t mind, but the people making the memes are so bad; they should do it properly.” Navya suggested, “You should educate them,” to which Jaya replied, “Why should I educate them?”

Navya Nanda, daughter of Shweta Bachchan and Nikhil Nanda, has emerged as a notable figure in her own regard. In 2021, she initiated Project Naveli, dedicated to addressing gender inequality in the nation.

Nikhil Nanda, grandson of actor-director Raj Kapoor and industrialist Har Prasad Nanda, adds to the family’s legacy. Alongside Shweta, Nikhil, Navya, and Agastya Nanda, the Nanda family engages the public with their varied pursuits and open discussions.
