Anushka Sharma shares that she has dinner at 5:30 PM with her daughter Vamika, saying, “Our meal and sleep schedules are fixed.”

Anushka Sharma, a well-known Bollywood actress and wife of cricketer Virat Kohli, recently discussed her family’s dinner routine and parenting choices for their children, Vamika and Akaay Kohli. During a promotional event for Slurrp Farm, Anushka explained why she chose an early dinner schedule and how it benefits her family.

Anushka Sharma, a famous Bollywood actress and wife of cricketer Virat Kohli, recently spoke about her family’s dinner routine and the parenting decisions she’s made for their children, Vamika and Akaay Kohli. At a Slurrp Farm promotional event, she shared why they follow an early dinner schedule and how it benefits the family.

Anushka explained that her routine of having dinner at 5:30 PM began out of convenience. Her daughter, Vamika, would often want to eat around that time, and since Anushka was usually home alone with her, she decided to join her for dinner rather than eat later. This soon became a regular part of their daily routine. “It started as a matter of convenience because my daughter wanted her dinner early, around 5:30. Since it was usually just the two of us at home, I thought, why not eat together and then sleep,” Anushka shared.

The early dinner routine has turned out to be more than just convenient for Anushka. She observed several benefits, such as improved sleep and enhanced mental clarity. “I began to notice the advantages—I slept better, felt more refreshed in the morning, and experienced less brain fog,” she said, emphasizing the positive impact on her lifestyle and well-being.

Anushka mentioned that her entire family, including Virat, has now adopted this routine. “What started as a matter of convenience has become something the whole family follows,” she explained.

Influence of an Army Upbringing

Raised in an Army household, Anushka grew up with a strong sense of discipline, a value she is eager to pass on to her children. She shared childhood memories of how her parents calmly managed mealtimes. “For instance, if we were picky at the table, my father wouldn’t raise his voice. He’d simply say, ‘Sure, you can leave, but when you’re hungry, that’s what you’ll eat.’ These moments taught us to appreciate what our parents did for us,” she recalled.

Anushka wants her children to embrace similar values, instilling discipline and gratitude in them. She explained that having a set routine for meals and sleep helps provide her children with a sense of stability and control, especially in their travel-heavy lifestyle. “I do my best to create a routine for them to give them a sense of control,” she said.

Modern Parenting and the Role of Social Media

Anushka reflected on the challenges of modern parenting, particularly the overwhelming amount of advice available online. She humorously noted how social media, especially Instagram, constantly floods parents with unsolicited tips. “It’s like, ‘Oh, I’m dealing with this,’ and suddenly the Instagram algorithm bombards you with advice on what you’re doing wrong and what you should do instead. It’s both a blessing and, at times, maddening,” she joked.

She stressed the importance of trusting one’s own parenting instincts rather than blindly following online trends. From her experience, she’s learned that not all advice is one-size-fits-all, and it’s crucial to find what works best for each family. “I once read, ‘Let’s eat together, shut the kitchen,’ and now it’s something the whole family follows. You should work with your kids’ routines,” she shared.

Virat Kohli, Anushka’s husband, has also spoken about the significant impact she has had on his life, both personally and professionally. In a recent interview, Virat shared the valuable lessons he has learned from Anushka, especially her steadfast commitment to truth and integrity.
