Met Gala 2024 saw Alia Bhatt, hailed as a fashion icon, making waves once again with her stunning appearance. Dressed in a breathtaking Sabyasachi saree, Alia captivated everyone on the red carpet. Interestingly, the loudest cheers from the international paparazzi were for Alia as she posed gracefully. Her traditional outfit garnered immense love and appreciation from fans worldwide.
Expressing her excitement about representing India in a saree, Alia said during her red carpet interview with Vogue, “I’m feeling great. I’m feeling very excited. Months of preparation, lots of conversations and all builds up to this one moment. It’s so surreal but it’s also very special. It’s my second time at the Met, but my first time wearing a saree. When I thought of the dress code, ‘Garden of Time’, I felt it needed something timeless and there’s nothing timeless than a saree.” Watch her red carpet interview below:
During an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha last year, Alia reminisced about her experience walking the Met Gala 2023 red carpet alongside some of Hollywood’s biggest names. “The little girl in me was just making sure that I didn’t trip on the red carpet and that I had enough time to pose, take a breath, and enjoy the moment,” she shared.
Although it was a historic moment, Alia ensured that she didn’t let the pressure overwhelm her. “It’s not about putting too much pressure on yourself and taking it too seriously. It’s a big deal, no doubt, but it’s also about enjoying yourself and feeling light-hearted so that your face lights up with happiness. That’s what I focused on. Having said that, I really enjoyed myself,” she remarked.
On the film front, Alia is set to star in “Jigra,” directed by Vasan Bala and co-produced by Alia and Karan Johar. Additionally, she has signed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Love and War,” where she will share the screen with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.

Alia Bhatt made a stunning appearance at the Met Gala 2024 wearing a custom-designed mint green Sabyasachi saree. Styled by her long-time stylist, Anaita Shroff Adajania, Bhatt’s saree was adorned with real gems and featured a 23-foot-long train, paying homage to the theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”
For her debut at the 2023 Met Gala, Bhatt wore Prabal Gurung couture, following the theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” She donned a white gown embellished with over 100,000 pearls. The intricate embroidery on her gown was executed by artisans in India.

For the 2024 Met Gala, Natasha Poonawalla chose a custom Margiela outfit designed by the renowned John Galliano, one of the fashion industry’s favorite designers at the moment. She completed her look with sky-high platform Christian Louboutins.
At the 2022 Met Gala, Poonawalla made a memorable impression with her Sabyasachi x Schiaparelli ensemble, perfectly embodying the theme “Gilded Glamour.” Her outfit included a custom golden saree by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, paired with a structured bustier from Schiaparelli. Few could capture the theme as brilliantly as Natasha Poonawalla did on the Met Gala red carpet in 2022.

Mona Patel, CEO of Forbes Next 1000 honoree, made her highly anticipated debut at the 2024 Met Gala wearing an off-shoulder, body-hugging gown by Iris Van Herpen. Inspired by fluttering butterflies in homage to the dress code “The Garden of Time,” Patel’s look featured Van Herpen’s signature sculptural elements in a marbled fabric. The highlight of Patel’s ensemble was the fluttering 3D butterflies adorning her sleeves, adding a magical touch to her outfit.

Actor and producer Mindy Kaling made a statement at this year’s Met Gala in a sculpted nude couture gown by Gaurav Gupta. The gown featured a majestic structured cape that started from above her shoulders and extended into a train.
For her previous appearance at the 2023 Met Gala, Kaling opted for a couture pearly white Simkhai corseted dress. The dress paid homage to the designs of the late Karl Lagerfeld, to whom the annual event was dedicated.
