Karan Johar criticizes a comedian for imitating him, saying it’s in ‘poor taste’. Is he talking about this comedian?

Karan Johar expressed his displeasure over a recent comedy show that featured a spoof of him. He shared his disappointment on Instagram.

Bollywood director Karan Johar expressed his disappointment after a comedian mimicked him on a TV show, stating that it was done in ‘poor taste’. Taking to his Instagram Stories, the filmmaker shared a statement, mentioning that while he would expect such behavior from trolls, he didn’t anticipate it from people within the film industry. Although Karan Johar did not mention the show or the comedian by name, many social media users believe he was referring to Kettan Singh, who impersonated him on the show, “Madness Machayenge – India Ko Hasayenge.”

“While sitting and watching television with my mom, I came across a promo of a reality comedy show on a supposedly reputable channel. A comedian was mimicking me in exceptionally poor taste. I expect this from trolls and anonymous individuals, but when your own industry disrespects someone who has been in the business for over 25 years, it speaks volumes about the times we live in. This doesn’t even anger me; it just makes me sad!” Karan wrote on his Instagram Stories.

Film producer Ekta Kapoor shared Karan’s statement on her Instagram Stories and expressed her support. “It has happened so many times! There’s often distasteful humor on shows, even at award functions. And then they expect you to attend! Karan, please ask them to imitate one of your movies or classics,” Ekta wrote. Karan reposted the story and replied, “Love you, Ektu.”

Many social media users speculated that Karan Johar was referring to Kettan Singh, a comedian on Sony TV’s comedy show “Madness Machayenge”. This conclusion was drawn from a recent promo shared by the channel on Instagram and TV. In the promo, Kettan dressed up as Karan and poked fun at his chat show, “Koffee With Karan”.

During his act on the comedy show, Kettan mocked “Koffee With Karan” by calling it ‘Toffee with Churan’. He also made jokes about Karan’s habit of launching star kids and his dancing.

The show is hosted by Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi and features comedians such as Harsh Gujral, Snehil, Ankita Shrivastav, Paritosh Tripathi, Kushal Badrike, Inder Sahni, and Gaurav Dubey.
