BJP leader Amit Malviya stated that despite Robert Vadra’s claim of popularity in Amethi, the “Rahul Gandhi camp” overlooked him for the seat.
One day after Kishori Lal Sharma filed his nomination for the Lok Sabha polls in Amethi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. They claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s “camp” had sidelined his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and brother-in-law Robert Vadra.
BJP leader Amit Malviya stated that despite Robert Vadra’s claim of popularity in Amethi, the “Rahul Gandhi camp” ignored him for the seat.
Amit Malviya suggested that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra might soon revolt against the Congress leadership.
“Let’s consider Robert Vadra’s situation for a moment. Despite his claim of immense popularity in Amethi, he was passed over for the seat. It’s clear that the Rahul Gandhi camp is intentionally sidelining both Priyanka Vadra and her husband within the Congress. How long before she decides to rebel?” he wrote on X Saturday morning.
Last month, Robert Vadra asserted his popularity in Amethi, stating that there was a public demand for his active involvement in politics.
Robert Vadra’s statement sparked speculation that he was considering contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Amethi, the Congress party’s former stronghold. He said, “As far as my role in active politics is concerned, people have always supported me when I worked for them… The country wants me to be in active politics. If the Congress party feels that I can bring about change, I am ready to enter active politics. It is not necessary for me to contest from Amethi; I can also contest from Moradabad and Haryana,” as reported by news agency ANI.
Rahul Gandhi, who represented Amethi in the Lok Sabha for three terms, lost the seat to BJP’s Smriti Irani in 2019.
He has now filed his nomination papers from Rae Bareli, another Congress stronghold, which was previously represented by his mother, Sonia Gandhi.
“Conspiracy against Priyanka Gandhi”
Former Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam alleged that a conspiracy was being orchestrated against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
“If Rahul Gandhi didn’t want to contest from Amethi, he should have contested from Varanasi against PM Narendra Modi,” he told ANI.
Following Sonia Gandhi’s decision to vacate the seat, there were speculations that Priyanka Gandhi would contest from Rae Bareli.
