“14-Year-Old Student in Bagalkote, Karnataka, Commits Suicide After Accusation of Theft by School Teacher”

In Bagalkote taluk, Karnataka, a 14-year-old government school student died by suicide reportedly after being accused of theft by her teacher. The incident occurred on March 14 in Kadampura village. Allegedly, the girl, a class 8 student, was forced along with other girls by a government high school teacher and faculty members to remove their uniforms to search for ₹2,000 that had gone missing.

The student’s parents stated that the incident deeply humiliated their daughter, leading her to take such a drastic step. They filed a complaint with the police, holding the teachers responsible for her death.

BK Nandanur, Bagalkote district’s deputy public instruction, assured that an investigation into the matter would be conducted.

Bagalkote rural police station inspector Santhosh Dalavai informed that a case under IPC Section 306 (abetment of suicide) had been registered against head teacher K H Mujawar and Jayashri Mishrikoti, following the complaint from the deceased student’s parents.
