Three people, including a student studying engineering, were arrested in Pune for the murder of their classmate.

Pune police have apprehended an engineering student and two companions on suspicion of abducting and killing a 22-year-old computer engineering student, officials stated on Sunday. The victim and one of the suspects, who was a classmate of the victim, were acquainted. The occurrence took place on March 30, when Bhagyashree Sude, a third-year BE Computer student from Latur, was abducted around 9 pm near Phoenix Mall.

Police investigation uncovered that the accused were in debt and needed money to settle their loans. Familiar with Bhagyashree’s family situation, they chose to target her.

Officials have identified the suspects as Sagar Jadhav, Shivam Phulwale, and Suresh Indure. Phulwale is described as a third-year engineering college student, while the other two are his associates. Both Bhagyashree Sude and Shivam Phulwale are enrolled in engineering at the same college situated in the eastern part of the city, according to authorities.

Initially, the victim’s parents transferred ₹50,000 online to the bank account provided by the suspect. Utilizing technical details, the police arrested one suspect.

During interrogation, police discovered that the victim had been murdered, and her body was buried in a farm located in Supa village in Pune district,” stated Anand Khobre, the Sub-Inspector at Vimantal police station.

Officials believe the victim was murdered on the same day she was kidnapped. On Sunday, a Viman Tal police team hurried to the location and retrieved the girl’s body.

Following this development, the police apprehended two additional suspects in connection with the case, and the investigation is ongoing.
