Tamannaah Bhatia has been summoned in connection with the illegal streaming case related to the IPL.

Following Sanjay Dutt and Badshah, Tamannaah Bhatia has also been summoned by the Maharashtra cyber cell in connection with an illegal IPL streaming case.

Maharashtra’s cyber cell has summoned actor Tamannaah Bhatia for her alleged involvement in promoting the viewing of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches on Fairplay, a subsidiary platform of the Mahadev online gaming and betting application, officials revealed on Thursday. The actress, known for her roles in movies like “Baahubali” and Netflix’s “Lust Stories 2”, has been asked to appear before Maharashtra cyber personnel on April 29.

Statements from singer Badshah and the managers of actors Sanjay Dutt and Jacqueline Fernandez have already been recorded by the Cyber Cell in this case.

What is an Illegal IPL Streaming Case?

The illegal IPL streaming case involves the unauthorized streaming of Indian Premier League matches through the FairPlay application, which lacked permission from Viacom 18, the holder of exclusive broadcasting rights for the popular cricket tournament. Actors and actresses involved in the case are accused of promoting and endorsing the FairPlay app.

According to reports, the illegal streaming caused significant financial losses for the broadcaster, Viacom 18. The FairPlay app, designed for the Indian market, functions as a betting platform and is available for free on both Android and iOS platforms. The betting exchange platform offers a range of sports and entertainment for casual gambling.

Cricket is the most popular sport on FairPlay, followed by football and tennis. The FairPlay website allows users to stream all matches live, emphasizing the concept of “watch and win at the same time.”

FairPlay is a subsidiary application of the Mahadev online gaming application, which provides illegal betting options for games such as cricket, football, card games, tennis, and other chance-based games.

Last year, the Mahadev betting application gained attention due to the involvement of Shraddha Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, who appeared in ads for the Mahadev application. Both actors were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning.

Probe agencies scrutinized the app after a lavish wedding in the UAE in February, which reportedly cost Rs 200 crore and was paid entirely in cash.
