The pre-wedding celebrations for Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, who is marrying Radhika Merchant, daughter of industrialist Viren Merchant, commenced with ‘anna seva’.

The Ambani family has arranged ‘anna seva’ to seek blessings from the local community for the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. Following the meal, attendees were treated to traditional folk music, with renowned Gujarati singer Kirtidan Gadhvi captivating the audience. Sharing food holds deep significance for the Ambani family, a tradition they’ve upheld on auspicious occasions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Reliance Foundation, led by Nita Ambani, Anant Ambani’s mother, spearheaded extensive food distribution efforts. Continuing this tradition, Anant Ambani initiates his pre-wedding festivities with ‘anna seva’. The upcoming events are anticipated to be steeped in tradition and grandeur, offering guests a glimpse into the richness of Indian culture.

This gesture was organized by the Ambani family to seek blessings from the local community for the upcoming wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. Following the meal, attendees were treated to traditional folk music, with Gujarati singer Kirtidan Gadhvi stealing the show with his performance. Sharing food holds deep significance for the Ambani family, a tradition they’ve cherished and practiced on auspicious occasions for generations. Additionally, guests at the event will receive traditional scarves crafted by women artisans from Kachchh and Lalpur in Gujarat.

Leaders and luminaries from across the globe have received invitations to a grand celebration scheduled from March 1 to March 3. Notable invitees include Qatar Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Queen of Bhutan Jetsun Pema, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, and Saudi Aramco Chairperson Yasir Al Rumayyan.

The guest list extends to former Prime Minister of Sweden Carl Bildt, former Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper, Google President Donald Harrison, former President of Bolivia Jorge Quiroga, former Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd, and Chairperson of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab. Reliance Foundation recently shared a video on their Instagram featuring women from Gujarat skillfully crafting Bandhani scarves for the upcoming wedding celebrations of Anant and Radhika. The clip showcases Nita Ambani, the founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, interacting with the artisans and expressing her appreciation for their dedication.

In their caption, Reliance Foundation highlighted the artisans’ commitment to preserving traditional techniques and bringing to life stories as old as the land itself. The Swadesh initiative aims to empower communities and safeguard ancient craftsmanship.

In anticipation of the wedding, the Ambani family has also overseen the construction of new temples within an expansive temple complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

The temple complex, adorned with intricately carved pillars, sculptures of deities, fresco-style paintings, and architecture steeped in generations of artistic heritage, serves as the centerpiece of the wedding festivities, keeping India’s rich cultural and spiritual identity at its core.

Anant and Radhika’s engagement took place in a traditional ceremony at the family’s residence, Antilia, in Mumbai, in January 2023. Mukesh and Nita Ambani’s children, Isha, Akash, and Anant, have actively contributed to and led various key businesses within Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) in recent years. Isha has been instrumental in expanding Reliance Retail, while Akash serves as the Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) and Anant focuses on expanding the energy and materials businesses of Reliance Industries.

Anant Ambani is deeply involved in compassionate initiatives aimed at rehabilitating at-risk animals and providing them with care and dignity in their remaining years. In collaboration with Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation, the launch of Vantara—an ambitious animal welfare program—marks a paradigm shift for animal care in Gujarat’s lush green belt. Vantara, meaning “Star of the Forest,” is dedicated to rescuing, treating, caring for, and rehabilitating animals in need.
