Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav traveled on the same flight from Patna to Delhi to attend their respective coalition meetings after the Lok Sabha elections. They spoke briefly but did not discuss politics.
On Tuesday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav boarded the same Vistara flight (UK-718) from Patna to Delhi to attend their respective coalition meetings amid heightened political developments following the BJP’s failure to secure a majority in the Lok Sabha polls.
During the flight, Tejashwi Yadav and Nitish Kumar were seen sitting together and briefly inquired about each other’s well-being, without discussing politics. Afterwards, Tejashwi Yadav returned to his seat behind Nitish Kumar, according to sources.
Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav were traveling to Delhi to attend the NDA and INDIA bloc meetings to discuss the next steps following the announcement of the Lok Sabha poll results.
The BJP-led NDA secured 292 of the 543 seats, falling short of their target of 400 seats. The BJP alone won 240 seats, marking the first time since 2014 that the saffron party did not achieve a majority (272 seats).
Contrary to predictions, the Opposition INDIA bloc put up a strong performance, winning 234 seats. The alliance is now trying to court JD(U) and N Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP to assemble enough numbers to prevent the BJP from forming the government again.
Both Naidu and Nitish Kumar will be in Delhi for the NDA meeting, where Kumar is expected to push for the Speaker’s post, sources told India Today TV.
Naidu’s TDP achieved an impressive victory in the Andhra Pradesh assembly polls, reaffirming his commitment to “firmly stay” with the NDA, according to TDP sources. They also mentioned that no one from the Opposition INDIA bloc has contacted Naidu yet, although some feelers might have been sent to the TDP chief.
