The long-awaited day has arrived. Actors Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot today after keeping their relationship private for years. The couple married in a civil ceremony at Sonakshi’s residence, attended only by family and close friends. They shared their first photos from the all-white wedding.
Later in the evening, the couple hosted a party at the popular restaurant Bastian in Mumbai, with many Bollywood celebrities in attendance. Sonakshi looked stunning in a red saree and sported sindoor as she arrived with her husband, Zaheer Iqbal. Prior to the celebrations on Sunday, the couple had an indoor party for friends and family on June 20, followed by a mehendi ceremony on June 21. Sonakshi’s parents, Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha, were also present.
Shatrughan’s presence at the party dispelled rumors that he was unhappy with the union and might not attend the wedding. Speculation arose when Shatrughan told Times Now that he was “waiting to be informed” about his daughter’s wedding and added, “All I can say is, aaj kal ke bachche consent nahin lete maa-baap ke, sirf inform karte hain (Nowadays, children don’t seek permission; they simply inform their parents).”
Later, the veteran actor dismissed rumors of a family rift and confirmed he would attend the wedding. “I will certainly be there. Why shouldn’t I and why wouldn’t I? Her happiness is my happiness and vice versa. She has every right to choose her partner and the details of her wedding,” he told Zoom, adding that Sonakshi and Zaheer “look very nice together.”
Initially, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal kept their relationship intensely private, avoiding sharing pictures together and being photographed. Zaheer made his film debut with the Salman Khan-backed drama Notebook. According to reports, Zaheer and Sonakshi met at a party hosted by Salman, who also launched Sonakshi’s career with his blockbuster Dabangg.
The couple eventually worked together in the 2022 comedy-drama Double XL, co-starring Sonakshi’s friend Huma Qureshi. By the time they did the film, they were already in a relationship. However, it wasn’t until 2023 that they made their first public appearance as a couple at Aayush Sharma and Arpita Khan’s Eid bash.
Sonakshi and Zaheer soon began posting about each other on Instagram, sharing heartfelt birthday wishes, cheeky captions, and special romantic pictures, offering a glimpse into their relationship.
While it remains uncertain which Hindi film industry members were invited to the wedding ceremony, Shatrughan Sinha’s brothers are arriving from America to join the celebrations. It is also not yet known if Salman Khan, who is close to the couple, has been invited.
