Kangana Ranaut’s reaction follows allegations made by Vijay Wadettiwar, the Opposition leader in the Maharashtra Assembly, claiming that the actress had admitted to consuming beef previously, despite which the BJP has supported her in the elections.
Kangana Ranaut, BJP’s candidate from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, dismissed reports of her consuming beef, referring to remarks by Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar. Wadettiwar alleged that despite her supposed admission, the BJP endorsed her for elections. Ranaut stated, “I don’t consume beef or any other red meat. Baseless rumors won’t tarnish my image; I’ve advocated yogic and Ayurvedic lifestyles for years. My supporters know I’m a proud Hindu and won’t be misled.” Ranaut shared this on X, formerly Twitter.
BJP leader Shaina NC criticized Vijay Wadettiwar, labeling the party as “anti-woman.” She cited past instances like Supriya Shrinate’s comment about market rates in “mandi” and Randeep Surjewala’s remarks on Hema Malini’s age compared to Sonia Gandhi. Shaina NC stated, “This Congress party clearly shows anti-women sentiments.” This controversy emerged following Supriya Shrinate’s derogatory remark about Kangana Ranaut. In response, the ‘Queen’ actor highlighted her diverse roles, ranging “from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii,” on social media.
She emphasized the importance of liberating our daughters from prejudiced attitudes, urging us to move beyond curiosity about their bodies and to avoid using the challenges faced by sex workers as insults. “Every woman deserves respect and dignity,” she concluded.
Ms. Shrinate later released a video clarification, stating that she had removed the “inappropriate posts” made from her account without her consent.
