The government wants to know about Moosewala’s mom’s IVF; dad says they’re being pushed hard to prove the child is legal.

Shortly after the birth of Sidhu Moosewala’s younger sibling, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has asked the Punjab government to provide a report on the IVF treatment received by Moosewala’s mother, Charan Kaur.

The situation arose when Balkaur Singh, the father of the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, claimed that the Punjab government was troubling him regarding the arrival of his second son. They had chosen to undergo the In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) procedure.

The Union Health Ministry wrote to the Punjab government on March 14, requesting a report regarding Charan Kaur’s IVF treatment, citing a media report, as per news agency PTI. According to PTI sources, the letter referred to section 21 (g) (i) of the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021, which stipulates that women receiving ART services should be between 21 and 50 years old. The birth drew attention from the Centre due to the advanced ages of Moosewala’s parents; his father is approximately 60 years old, while his mother, Charan Kaur, is 58.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Singh claimed that the authorities were bothering him to confirm the legality of the child. “Two days ago, with the blessings of ‘Waheguru’ and your prayers, we welcomed our Shubhdeep (Sidhu Moosewala) back,” Singh stated in the video. “However, since morning, the administration has been giving me a hard time, demanding documents for the baby. They’re asking numerous questions, pressuring me to prove the child’s legality,” Moosewala’s father added. In the video, he appealed to the government, especially Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, to let the process proceed smoothly. “I belong to this place and will respond wherever you summon me,” he expressed.

Expressing his frustration, Singh strongly criticized the government for its alleged tendency to change direction and emphasized his own commitment to following through on his actions. He maintained his innocence, challenging authorities to arrest him if he had indeed broken any laws, asserting his readiness to provide all necessary legal documentation for investigation.

Meanwhile, opposition leaders, including Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, condemned the AAP government’s actions, with Warring urging Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to cease troubling the Sidhu family and allow them to enjoy their happiness without interference.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known as Sidhu Moosewala, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022. The singer had contested the Punjab Assembly elections in 2022 on a Congress ticket from Mansa but was unsuccessful.
