Shiv Sena leader from the Eknath Shinde faction demands action against Bigg Boss OTT 3 and its actors, citing concerns over ‘absolute vulgarity.’

A Shiv Sena MLA is calling for action against Bigg Boss 3, citing concerns over obscenities and vulgarity on the reality show.

Senior Shiv Sena MLA Manisha Kayande approached the Mumbai Police on Monday to seek action against Bigg Boss 3 and its creators. The lawmaker met with Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar to address the ‘absolute vulgarity’ depicted on the reality TV show.

“Bigg Boss 3, currently in production, showcases absolute vulgarity,” Kayande stated. “A YouTube influencer participating in the show has crossed all limits of decency. We have requested the Mumbai police to take action and submitted a letter to this effect. This public display of vulgarity in the name of reality TV is highly questionable. How does it influence young minds?” she asked.

Dr. Kayande also indicated plans to approach Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to advocate for a law regulating OTT content.

The Sena leader stated that the episode aired on July 18 showed a contestant, Armaan Malik, seemingly engaged in an intimate moment with Kritika Malik under the covers in the Bigg Boss bedroom.

“The couple trampled all boundaries of human relations and social norms. Even kids watch the show, and it impacts them. Bigg Boss is no longer a family show. Armaan Malik and Kritika Malik have crossed all limits. We have requested the arrest of the actors and the CEO of the show,” she said.

The Sena leader’s call for a ban on the show comes as the footage sparked an uproar across social media platforms. Some viewers interpreted the footage as an intimate moment, while others claim the viral video clip might be edited content spliced from the international version of the show, Big Brother.

On an X post, she added, “It has been repeatedly highlighted that the reality show Bigg Boss OTT 3 displays obscenities and undermines social and family values. Such shows are also a threat to our cultural values. We have demanded that the Commissioner of Police take immediate action to halt them and impose strict measures against the producers.”
