Pushpa 2 Stampede: Eight-year-old Sritej, injured during actor Allu Arjun’s unplanned visit to Sandhya Theatre, is receiving treatment in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at a private hospital in Hyderabad.

According to a medical bulletin released on December 17, the child remains in critical care, requiring mechanical ventilation with minimal oxygen and pressure support. His fever is subsiding, and he is on minimal inotropic support. His vital signs are stable, and he is tolerating feeds well. Given his stable neurological condition, doctors are planning a tracheostomy to help wean him off the ventilator.

‘Will Ensure Better Treatment’

Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand and Health Secretary Christina Z Chongthu visited the hospital on December 17. Speaking to the media afterward, Anand stated that the government is addressing the situation. “There was a discussion within the government today, and we will take all necessary steps to save the boy and provide him with the best possible treatment,” he said.

Speaking to reporters after the visit, Anand provided an update on Sritej’s condition, as reported by The Hindu: “The child has suffered brain damage due to a lack of oxygen during the stampede, and the doctors have indicated that it will take time for the brain to regain the ability to process signals.”

Chongthu reassured the child’s father, stating that the government would provide full support as needed.

Anand further stated, “The neurological condition is severely affected. The doctors believe it will be a long process before any improvements are seen. Treatment is ongoing, and we remain hopeful for the best outcome.” The officials confirmed that the government would cover all treatment costs.

Actor Allu Arjun ‘Deeply Concerned’

Actor Allu Arjun expressed deep concern for the boy’s health on December 15. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “I am deeply concerned about young Shri Tej, who is receiving constant medical care following the unfortunate incident. Due to ongoing legal proceedings, I’ve been advised not to visit him and his family at this time. My prayers are with them, and I remain committed to taking responsibility for addressing their medical and family needs.”

On the same day, Telangana State Women’s Commission chairperson Nerella Sharada, who visited the hospital, emphasized the need for measures to prevent such incidents.
