the Jhajjar district on Sunday, Nafe Singh Rathee, along with an INLD worker, was fatally shot by unidentified assailants. Nafe Singh Rathee, a former MLA who served two terms, was traveling when the assailants targeted his SUV with gunfire in Bahadurgarh town. The incident occurred a day before a CCTV camera footage emerged on Monday, revealing the movements of the assailants in a Hyundai i10 vehicle just before the attack. Additionally, three private gunmen hired by Nafe Singh Rathee for security also sustained injuries in the attack, according to news agency PTI.
India Today reported that the police, lacking definitive leads, are currently reviewing CCTV camera footage from nearby areas to identify the assailants’ vehicle registration number. The footage showed four suspects traveling in a car near the site of the attack.
According to India Today, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against four individuals: former MLA Naresh Kaushik, Ramesh Rathee, Sathish Rathee, and Rahul.

Senior INLD leader Abhay Chautala accused the state government of failing to provide adequate security to Rathee despite knowing the threat to his life. He called for the resignation of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and State Home Minister Anil Vij.
The state unit chief, who served two terms as MLA, was not given security despite representations made in writing to senior police officers and the state home minister, stating that he faced threats and required protection,” Chautala informed PTI.
The attack, which happened just before the Lok Sabha elections, drew sharp criticism from opposition parties, highlighting a breakdown in law and order in the BJP-ruled state.
In response, State Home Minister Anil Vij acknowledged the seriousness of the issue and directed officials to swiftly address the shooting incident. Speaking to ANI, he stated, “…I have instructed the officials to take immediate action in this regard. The STF (Special Task Force) has also been activated…The incident is under investigation.”
