Gujarat Rain Live Updates: The death toll in Gujarat from rain-related incidents has climbed to 28 after days of heavy downpours caused widespread flooding. So far, 17,800 people have been evacuated from affected areas. According to Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel, over 5,000 people have been relocated and more than 12,000 rescued in Vadodara as of August 28.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, offering full support for the state’s rescue and relief efforts. CM Patel shared on X that the Prime Minister also provided guidance on sanitation and public health concerns in the flood-hit areas.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Gujarat as heavy rains continue due to a deep depression moving from East Rajasthan toward the Saurashtra region. The Gujarat government has requested six Army columns for urgent relief operations in severely flooded districts. The NDRF has rescued 95 people in the last two days, with many displaced or stranded by the rising waters.

Gujarat has received 105% of its average annual rainfall so far, according to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC). Several districts in Saurashtra, particularly Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Porbandar, and Rajkot, have experienced extremely heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours.
