On Thursday, the Congress party issued a “black paper” spotlighting the “shortcomings” of the Modi administration, underscoring concerns including unemployment, inflation, and “agricultural woes.”
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge unveiled the ‘black paper’ titled “10 Saal Anyay Kaal”, preceding the government’s presentation of a ‘white paper’ in Parliament addressing the “mismanagement” of the economy pre-2014, aimed at learning from past experiences. The ‘black paper’ emphasizes concerns including “unemployment, inflation, farmers’ plight, the neglect of a caste census, and gender injustices”.
In a critique aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kharge remarked that while Modi often references Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi in discussions about inflation, “they are currently in power and ought to address their own actions.”
Modi had promised to deliver 2 crore jobs and secure Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers, yet now he should acknowledge if he couldn’t fulfill those pledges and instead has introduced new assurances.
Kharge emphasized that the Congress secured India’s independence and pledges to lead the nation out of the BJP’s “shroud of injustice” in 2024.
