BJP May Go With New CM Faces In MP, Rajasthan And Chhattisgarh As Party Eyes 2024 Lok Sabha Elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is considering appointing new Chief Ministers (CMs) in the three key states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, according to sources within the party. The decision is being made with an eye on the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP won landslide victories in all three states in the recent assembly elections, held in November 2023. This has given the party a strong base in the Hindi heartland, which is crucial for its success in the 2024 general elections.

However, the BJP is also aware that it needs to project a fresh image in these states, especially after having been in power for several years. Appointing new CMs would send a message that the party is committed to renewal and is in touch with the aspirations of the people.

Potential New CMs

There are several potential candidates for the CM positions in the three states. In Madhya Pradesh, the frontrunners are BJP national vice-president Prabhat Jha and state party chief VD Sharma. In Rajasthan, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Lok Sabha MP Diya Kumari are seen as strong contenders. And in Chhattisgarh, Union Minister for Steel Faggan Singh Kulaste and national BJP secretary Sarita Vikhe Patil are in the running.

Balancing Caste Equations

The BJP is also likely to consider caste equations when making its decision. In Madhya Pradesh, for example, the party may want to appoint a CM from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category, as OBCs are a significant vote bank in the state. In Rajasthan, the BJP may consider appointing a CM from the Scheduled Castes (SCs) category, as SCs are also a major voting bloc in the state.

The Road Ahead

The BJP’s decision on new CMs is expected to be announced soon. The party is likely to take into account all of the factors mentioned above, as it strives to strike a balance between continuity and change. The appointment of new CMs will be closely watched by political observers, as it could have a significant impact on the party’s fortunes in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
