“Jennifer Mistry, Actor from ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,’ Prevails in Sexual Harassment Case Against Producer Asit Kumarr Modi; Ordered to Pay Rs 5 Lakh Compensation”
“Jennifer Mistry, known for her role as Mrs. Roshan Singh Sodi in ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,’ emerges victorious in the sexual harassment case against producer Asit Kumarr Modi. Despite the verdict being delivered 40 days ago, Mistry is still awaiting payment of her unpaid dues and the awarded Rs 5 lakh compensation from Modi.”
In a conversation with IndiaToday.in, Mistry affirmed, “It’s accurate. I’ve emerged victorious, but my satisfaction is incomplete. Despite the verdict being delivered over 40 days ago, I’m still awaiting payment for the work I put in. It’s been over a year since my dues were supposed to be cleared, yet I haven’t received justice.”
The actor further emphasized that her complaint also implicated ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ project head Sohail Ramani and executive producer Jatin Bajaj, but no consequences were meted out to them.
“I lodged a complaint against all three individuals, but the verdict didn’t involve Sohail and Jatin, which disappoints me. The compensation awarded by the local committee rightfully belongs to me, considering my efforts. Asit Modi being found guilty of sexual harassment wasn’t surprising to me; I had known about it all along,” Mistry remarked.
Mistry expressed that the recent ruling from the Local Complaints Committee validates that her sexual harassment allegations against Modi were genuine. She emphasized the emotional toll she endured over the past year, with the perpetrators still at large. She stressed that the verdict dispels any notion of fabrication or exploitation of her situation for publicity. Despite the acknowledgment of harassment, she feels justice hasn’t been fully served.
Regarding “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,” a long-standing television series since 2008, several actors have departed. Earlier, Shailesh Lodha, who portrayed Taarak Mehta, also pursued legal action against the show’s producers for unpaid dues.
