Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh officially announced they became parents on Sunday. The couple shared a joint post on Instagram, welcoming their firstborn, a baby girl.
Deepika and Ranveer shared a joint post without a caption, featuring a simple message on a white background: “Welcome baby girl! 8.9.2024, Deepika & Ranveer.”
Fans of the actors were overjoyed by the much-anticipated news and filled the comments with well wishes. One wrote, “Congratulations on your beautiful little princess” (red heart, sparkle, and evil eye emojis). Another commented, “The queen is blessed with a princess.” A third fan added, “I had predicted it would be a girl in a previous post. Ranveer, your little Deepika has arrived” (purple hearts and evil eye emojis). “God bless” (sparkle emojis).
The comment refers to Ranveer’s 2021 statement on his game show The Big Picture, where he said, “As you know, I’m married, and in the next 2-3 years, we may have kids. Your sister-in-law was such an adorable baby. I look at her baby photos every day and tell her, ‘Give me a baby like this, and my life will be complete.’ I’ve already started shortlisting names.”
Deepika and Ranveer shared their pregnancy news in February, announcing they were expecting their baby in September. The couple, who tied the knot on November 14, 2018, at Lake Como, Italy, had been dating for six years.
They first met on the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic drama Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela and later co-starred in Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.
On the work front, Deepika will appear in Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty, set to release during Diwali 2024, alongside Ranveer. Ranveer also has roles in Aditya Dhar’s upcoming military action film and Farhan Akhtar’s crime drama Don 3.
