Mumbai Crime: Mumbai Police seizes Rs 2.5 crore worth of cocaine, arrests Nigerian national.

Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested a Nigerian national on Tuesday and seized 2.5 kilograms of cocaine worth Rs 2.5 crore from his possession. The accused has been identified as Anthony Akueche, 39.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of crime branch officials laid a trap at Anik bus depot in Wadala. The accused was spotted carrying a bag near the spot. The officials checked the bag and found 2.5 kilograms of cocaine concealed inside it.

The accused was arrested and booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He was produced in court and remanded in police custody till January 25.

The seizure is a major blow to the drug trafficking racket in Mumbai. The police are investigating the accused’s links with other drug traffickers.
