Hours after a wedding invite for Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal was leaked online, her father, Shatrughan Sinha, addressed the rumors. He clarified that he was neither confirming nor denying the news of her marriage. Shatrughan Sinha, a renowned actor-politician, expressed that whenever and if it happens, he would be a happy father. He emphasized that regardless of whom she chooses to marry, the family would support her decision.
“I am neither confirming nor denying her wedding news. Time will tell. She will always have my blessings,” Shatrughan told The Times of India. He further added, “Sonakshi is the apple of my eye. She is my only daughter and very close to me. I am a proud father because, over the years, she has also grown as an actor. From Lootera to Dahaad to now Heera Mandi, she has proved to be a fantastic actor.”
“If my daughter is getting married, I will give her my blessings and support her decision and choice. Sonakshi has the right to choose her companion, and I will be the happiest father on her wedding day. I will always wish her the best…ek hi toh beti hai meri,” Shatrughan added. Shatrughan also mentioned that he was unaware of the wedding plans. “I am being asked by people close to me why I am not aware of this (the supposed wedding), and the media is aware of it. All I can say is, aaj kal ke bachche consent nahin lete maa-baap ke, sirf inform karte hain. We are waiting to be informed,” he said.
