The third-day box office figures for the Rajinikanth-led film, Lal Salaam, have been unveiled. According to the recent report on Sacnilk.com, it’s anticipated to garner approximately ₹3 crore on its first Sunday. Directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, this sports drama debuted to favorable reviews on February 9th.
The most recent box office update for Lal Salaam reveals that it amassed ₹2.93 crore net across India in all languages on its inaugural Sunday. With an impressive ₹3.55 crore on Day 1 and ₹3.25 crore on Day 2, the total gross after three days has now reached ₹9.73 crore. Additionally, the report highlights a 29.24% occupancy rate for the Tamil version and a 15.24% occupancy rate for the Telugu screenings.
In Lal Salaam, Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth take on lead roles, portraying lifelong rivals whose animosity traces back to their childhood. The film’s first half delves into their village life, depicting the escalating tensions between Hindus and Muslims. Rajinikanth assumes the role of Moideen Bhai, with Jeevitha Rajashekar portraying his sister and Nirosha as his wife. The ensemble cast also includes Vikranth, Senthil, Thambi Ramaiah, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Vivek Prasanna, and Thangadurai.
After an eight-year hiatus, Aishwarya Rajinikanth returned to directing with Lal Salaam. In an interview with Hindustan Times, she likened the experience to reconnecting with an old friend, where despite not being in constant touch, you effortlessly pick up where you left off. She expressed that returning to the set felt like being back in familiar territory, akin to a fish returning to water, whether it’s a fish tank or the ocean. Rajinikanth cherished the precious years spent with her sons and didn’t want to miss their formative years. Now that they’re older and supportive of her career, she feels empowered to pursue her passion while they embark on their own journeys.
Originally slated for a Pongal festival release in January, Lal Salaam had its release date rescheduled, as announced by Lyca Productions. Presented by A Subaskaran, the film features music composed by AR Rahman. After an eight-year hiatus, Aishwarya Rajinikanth returned to directing with this project.
