Dr. Harsh Vardhan has officially retired from politics after dedicating over thirty years to his career. Via social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he conveyed appreciation for the chance to contribute to the nation and reflected on his evolution from a medical student to a significant political figure.
In his departure from politics, Dr. Vardhan expressed eagerness to return to his original profession as an ENT specialist, planning to resume his practice in Krishna Nagar. He tweeted, “I eagerly anticipate the next chapter. There are commitments to honor and aspirations to pursue before I rest! I hold onto a dream, knowing your support will always be with me. Likewise, my ENT clinic in Krishna Nagar eagerly awaits my return.”
In the BJP’s initial list of 195 candidates, Praveen Khandelwal has been nominated for the Chandni Chowk seat, previously held by Vardhan. Throughout his tenure, Vardhan emphasized his dedication to public welfare, influenced by the principles of service instilled during his medical training. His entry into politics stemmed from a commitment to address poverty, disease, and ignorance, aligning with the Antodaya philosophy advocated by Deen Dayal Upadhyay. Reflecting on his journey, he recalled his motto of “service to mankind” from his days at GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, fifty years ago, driven by a desire to assist the underprivileged. Vardhan made significant contributions to public health, serving as Health Minister for both Delhi and the Union government. Notably, he played a crucial role in initiatives such as polio eradication and managing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In extending appreciation to his supporters, colleagues, and party leaders, Dr. Vardhan recognized the honor of collaborating with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He reaffirmed his commitment to advocating against tobacco and substance abuse, along with his dedication to addressing climate change.
