“Deepika Padukone’s Cinematic Journey: Unveiling Her Debut in ‘Aishwarya’ Before the Iconic ‘Om Shanti Om'”
Deepika Padukone, the global actor, celebrated her 38th birthday, and wishes poured in from around the world. Over her remarkable 17-year acting career, Deepika has achieved numerous milestones, from being the first Indian actor to become the house brand ambassador for international giants like Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Levis, Qatar Airways, and more, to winning multiple Filmfare Best Actor awards for her outstanding performances.
Many people associate Deepika’s debut with the iconic yellow taxi scene in the movie “Om Shanti Om,” where she mesmerized audiences donning a pink lehenga set with the enchanting “Ankho Me Teri” playing in the background. However, not everyone is aware that “Om Shanti Om” was not Deepika’s first film.
Before gracing the big screen with Bollywood’s iconic film, Deepika Padukone made her debut in the film industry with a Kannada-language romantic film titled “Aishwarya” in 2006. Directed by Indrajith Lanka, the movie featured Upendra Rao, a prominent figure in the Kannada film industry, as the male lead, along with Daisy Bopanna playing a crucial role alongside Deepika.
“Aishwarya” is an official remake of the 2002 film “Manmadhudu,” and its flashback sequences draw inspiration from the 2005 movie “Ghajini.” In the storyline, Upendra portrays a wealthy advertising executive, and Deepika enters the narrative as an assistant manager in the same company. The film unfolds with a blend of office drama and romance, culminating in the characters ending up together in the climax. This lesser-known debut showcased Deepika’s versatility and marked the beginning of her illustrious career in the world of cinema.
