According to a report by Sports Tak, Akaay, the son of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, would not automatically receive British citizenship based on his reported birth in London. The report explains that under UK regulations, a child born in the UK doesn’t automatically gain British citizenship. Instead, the child can only acquire British citizenship if one of the parents is a British citizen or has obtained settled status after residing in the UK for an extended period.
Despite Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s residence in London, the report indicates that Akaay cannot attain British citizenship automatically, even if he receives a passport from the UK. Instead, he will remain an Indian citizen. However, his parents have the option to apply for his registration as a British citizen. According to the portal, Akaay could potentially be eligible for British citizenship through registration if he was born in the UK and continues to reside there until at least the age of 10.
