Amidst the intense cold wave gripping the national capital, with Sunday recording the lowest minimum temperature of the winter season, and poor visibility caused by dense fog, Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) authorities redirected 10 flights and experienced delays for nearly 100, with the cancellation of several others.
With the national capital grappling with severe cold and recording the lowest minimum temperature of the winter season on Sunday, coupled with reduced visibility due to dense fog, Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) authorities redirected 10 flights and experienced delays for nearly 100, in addition to several cancellations.
As per PTI news agency reports, officials from Delhi airport stated that a combined total of 10 flights, including 2 international ones, were redirected to Jaipur between 4.30 am and 12 noon. Approximately 100 flights, including international services, encountered delays, with certain flights being canceled due to adverse weather conditions, according to the officials.
As frigid temperatures persist, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning forecasting the continuation of dense fog in specific areas of northwest India for the next three to four days. The IMD, through its official communication channel, emphasized the presence of a very dense fog layer spanning Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. The advisory urged caution for travelers on highways, emphasizing the need for extremely careful driving and the use of fog lights.
