Deepika Padukone has been subjected to criticism on social media regarding her pregnancy. Alia Bhatt, also an actress, expressed solidarity with Padukone in the face of this online backlash.
Recently, Deepika Padukone has been unfairly targeted with hate and criticism online after paparazzi captured her casting her vote for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections alongside her husband, Ranveer Singh. Despite keeping her pregnancy mostly private since announcing it a few months ago, Padukone faced immediate backlash from netizens, who even went as far as questioning the authenticity of her baby bump.
In response to the negative reaction, journalist Faye D’Souza took to Instagram to express her support for Padukone, emphasizing that Padukone’s act of fulfilling her democratic duty did not warrant commentary on her body or pregnancy. D’Souza’s post serves as a reminder to social media users to refrain from making unwarranted comments about Padukone’s personal life.
Alia Bhatt promptly liked the post, joined by her mother, Soni Razdan, and sisters, Pooja Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt. Actress Shruti Seth, known for her role as Jia in ‘Shararat,’ also showed support, stating, “Thanks @deepikapadukone too busy conquering the world to be hell! She’s walking around these views.” Actor Aahana Kumra praised the post, commenting, “Well done Faye,” while TV star Tina Datta agreed, adding, “Right! People have lost it.”
Deepika Padukone’s fans expressed gratitude for Alia Bhatt’s defense. They observed that Alia might have faced similar negativity during her pregnancy with her daughter, Raha Kapoor.
Deepika and Ranveer, married for six years, are expecting their baby in September 2024.
