The investigation into the Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe blast continues, with additional images emerging showing the suspect traveling on a bus.
The main suspect was captured by CCTV cameras in the vicinity, with one image revealing the suspect without wearing a hat or mask, according to pictures published by India Today.
On March 1, an explosion occurred at Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe in Brookfield, injuring around ten people including staff and customers. The Ministry of Home Affairs transferred the probe to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on March 4. Karnataka Police registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Substances Act. The blast is suspected to have been caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), according to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The NIA released a picture of the suspected bomber captured by CCTV, wearing a cap, mask, and glasses. They offered rewards for information while ensuring informants’ confidentiality. A bounty of ₹10 lakh was announced by the NIA for information about the bomber. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar mentioned that the police are investigating various angles including business rivalry, terrorism, and election-related motives. The explosion was triggered by a bag placed by a customer, as per the cafe owners. CCTV footage showed the explosion, causing panic among customers. The cafe’s Brookfield outlet is set to reopen on March 8.
