Nikhil Wagle suggested that Sunil Deodhar lodged the complaint to boost his chances of becoming a candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Pune.
“Journalist Nikhil Wagle Vows to Reveal RSS Hypocrisy After BJP’s Sunil Deodhar Lodges Complaint in Pune Over Wagle’s Tweet Targeting PM Modi, LK Advani | File Images”
“Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sunil Deodhar lodged a complaint against senior journalist Nikhil Wagle at Pune’s Vishrambaug Police Station on Tuesday regarding his post on X (formerly Twitter), which targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior BJP leader LK Advani.
In a statement on X, Deodhar wrote, ‘I have filed a Police Complaint at Vishrambaug Police Station #Pune demanding strict action against @waglenikhil, who made derogatory remarks against our country’s highest offices, Honorable @rashtrapatibhvn Murmu Ji, PM @narendramodi Ji & Bharat Ratna #LKAdvani Ji.'”
Deodhar stressed, “Those who claim to be journalists often disregard the principles of the Constitution, democracy, and law. They consistently seek to create division in society. Wagle’s tweet about LK Advani receiving the Bharat Ratna is highly disrespectful and unacceptable. By implying that Advani is a rioter and tagging the Prime Minister, Wagle indirectly accuses the Prime Minister of the same.”
“Since the Bharat Ratna is awarded by the President, Wagle has also disrespected the President. Using offensive language against individuals holding the highest positions in a democratic society is a criminal act, which is why I have filed a complaint with the police. The police will take appropriate action,” he further stated.
In his response, Wagle dismissed the filed complaint as “baseless” and viewed it as an effort to disrupt an upcoming meeting scheduled in Pune on February 9. He asserted that even if he faces arrest, the meeting will continue as scheduled. Wagle mentioned that his legal representative, Asim Sarode, will challenge the complaints through legal channels.

Additionally, Wagle alleged on X that Deodhar lodged the complaint to enhance his chances of becoming a candidate in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from Pune.
“I am determined to contest this case. The BJP’s attempt to personally target me reflects their fear of the growing popularity of the Nirbhay Bano movement,” he stated in a post.
“Thank you, @Sunil_Deodhar. I will now reveal the hypocrisy of your (RSS) group in a courtroom,” the seasoned journalist remarked in another post.
