A two-hour traffic disruption is anticipated on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on January 11 due to the installation of gantries as part of the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) project. According to a notification issued by Yogesh Bhosale, a Highway State Police official, the Mumbai lane of the expressway will be affected during the specified period from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm on Thursday.
The installation work involves setting up two legs serviceable gantries at Km 29.400 and Km 9.800, falling under the jurisdiction of the Highway Police Station in Palaspe. Consequently, all types of light and heavy vehicles on the Mumbai lane will experience a complete stoppage, prompting commuters to plan their journeys accordingly.
To mitigate inconvenience, alternative routes have been recommended for different types of traffic:
- For light vehicles and bus traffic traveling from Pune to Mumbai: Divert from Khopoli Exit Km 39, take National Highway No 48 (Old Pune Mumbai Highway) from Khopoli town, and proceed on the Mumbai lane via Shedung toll plaza.
- For both light and heavy vehicle traffic heading from Pune to Mumbai: Divert from Khalapur Exit, take National Highway No 48 (Old Pune Mumbai Highway) from Khalapur town, and proceed on the Mumbai lane via Shedung toll plaza.
Commuters are advised to stay informed about the traffic block and adhere to the suggested alternate routes to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey during the specified period.
